Clinical Supervision
Supporting You To Support Your Clients
Hello, I'm Bethan, I am a Clinical Supervisor at Alleviate Counselling and Psychotherapy where I bring a wide variety of knowledge from my 14 years of working within mental health services, such as; Psychiatric intensive care units, Inpatient wards, Higher education settings, GP surgeries, Wellbeing Centres and Hospice care.
I also Supervise in my role as Family Support Lead at a Hospice specialising in life-limiting illness and bereavement both for adults and children. My mix of two part-time roles allows me to hold relevant and invaluable insight of leading a team, balancing client work, understanding and changing organisational and systemic practices, and also supporting others to bring their best self to client work.
I am a strong advocate for a Triangulated approach to Supervision where there is an equal balance of Restorative work (Support, confidence building and personal struggles, for example, imposter syndrome or feeling de-skilled), Formative work (Sharing and increasing knowledge base, identifying areas of CPD and developing your inner Supervisor) and Normative work (upholding professional standards and exploration of issues that may challenge client practice). I believe that a combination of all three allows for a supportive, honest and collaborative space to enrich your approach to client work and ongoing commitment to the helping profession.
Why Choose Alleviate?
My areas of specialism are life-limiting illness, chronic pain, terminal illness and approaching death, bereavement, addiction, trauma and relationship work, and also working with children in pre and post bereavement.
I believe that I am a good judge of when its best to be assertive, to offer challenge and to highlight blind spots, whilst maintaining care, compassion and a supportive lens in our work. I also see Supervision as an ever-moulding relationship, whereby regular reviews every 6 months will allow us to fine tune what you need from the space and from me as a peer, colleague and mentor.
I am trained in Sand Tray therapy too which can be used flexibly in supervision to enhance processing, introspection and deeper thinking.
I currently offer sessions both in person at my office in Dukinfield, Greater Manchester, and also online.
Feel free to get in touch if my page has left you with any questions or if you would like to book a free 30-minute initial call, where we can explore our suitability to work together.

I am aware that Supervision is not a one size fits all approach, therefore if you would like flexibility in the session duration or frequency I would be happy to discuss.
I am also keen to ensure that my Supervision offer is in line with a Supervisee’s organisational requirements, ethical guidance and training provider stipulations for practitioners in training, therefore this may also impact session duration and pricing too.
